The investment seeks as high a level of current income as is consistent with preservation of capital. The fund invests, under normal circumstances, at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in short- and intermediate-term fixed-income securities including government securities, corporate bonds or notes and agency securities. It may also invest in asset-backed securities, money market instruments, commercial loans, and foreign debt securities.
