GitLab Inc. raised $100 million in financing from Alphabet' Inc.'s GV, Iconiq Capital and Khosla Ventures among other investors. The funding valued the open-source code-sharing & collaborating platform at just over $1 billion.
GitLab is apparently gearing up to compete with GitHub, which was acquired by Microsoft in June. Interestingly, Alphabet's funding for GitLab comes after the former had lost out to Microsoft in the bidding for GitHub. Alphabet’s GV had also invested in GitLab’s $20 million funding round in October 2017.
