Anheuser-Busch InBev's quarterly earnings offer a useful gauge of global beer demand, consumer spending patterns, and premiumization trends. As the world's largest brewer, its performance across the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Asia gives a sense of how consumers are reacting to pricing, premium brands, and newer categories such as non-alcoholic beer. Ahead of the report, the company had posted ten straight quarters of total alcohol share gains in the U.S., even with a softer industry backdrop and weakness in China. This quarter drew attention for signs that pricing power, cost control, and its focus on major brands could keep offsetting commodity and transportation pressures while supporting per-share earnings growth.
BUD posted adjusted earnings of $1.21 per share for the third quarter of 2026, above the $1.15 consensus. Reported revenue rose 9.1% to $16.51 billion, helped by organic revenue growth of 4.9% and a 4.2% increase in revenue per hectoliter. Total volumes advanced 0.4%, with beer volumes down 0.1% and non-beer volumes up 4%. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
Normalized EBITDA climbed 3.9% to $5.96 billion, though the margin slipped 34 basis points to 36.1% due to higher sales and marketing spending plus rising input costs. Underlying EPS increased 22%. Growth came from mega brands, with net revenue up 7.7%, including 20% growth for Corona outside Mexico. Non-alcoholic beer revenue jumped 35%, and Beyond Beer revenue rose 19%.
The board approved an interim dividend of 40 euro cents per share, compared with 15 euro cents last year. The company kept its 2026 outlook of 4% to 8% EBITDA growth and net capital expenditures of $3.5 billion to $4 billion.
Even with the earnings and revenue beat, BUD shares moved lower after the release, as investors focused on the narrower EBITDA margin and ongoing softness in important markets. The U.S. segment saw revenue decline 1.2% and EBITDA drop 4% amid higher commodity and transportation costs, while China volumes and revenue each fell 16.8% with EBITDA down 30.5%. These issues outweighed strong volumes in places such as Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, South Africa, and India. The reaction shows how closely investors are monitoring margin stability and recovery in weaker regions, even as the company held its full-year guidance and increased the dividend.
BUD repeated its full-year 2026 EBITDA growth target of 4% to 8% and net capital expenditures between $3.5 billion and $4 billion. Investors will focus on whether revenue management and brand mix can continue to counter commodity inflation and higher transportation costs.
China remains an important variable, given continued softness in the on-premise channel and efforts to shift toward higher-growth areas. In the U.S., ongoing share gains in beer and Beyond Beer, led by Michelob Ultra and Busch Light, face a soft industry environment. Progress in non-alcoholic beer and the BEES marketplace, where third-party sales rose 45% to $1.4 billion, along with the $6 billion share buyback program, could support earnings compounding and greater capital flexibility.
