Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd, based in Santa Clara, California, supplies high-speed connectivity solutions for data infrastructure. Its lineup includes active electrical cables, optical DSPs, ZeroFlap optical transceivers, silicon photonics PICs, PCIe retimers, and SerDes chiplets. These products link GPUs, switches, and servers in AI data centers across distances from millimeters to kilometers.
The AEC segment continues to drive most revenue through ties with five hyperscale cloud providers. Credo has also moved into optical connectivity, positioning itself against Marvell Technology and Broadcom. I view CRDO as a leveraged way to play AI infrastructure spending.
Over the past 30 days CRDO declined about 24%, moving from $193.87 on September 23, 2026, to $147.29 at the October 23 close. The path was not linear, with a brief recovery late in September followed by renewed selling in October that took the shares to their lowest levels since summer.
The quarterly decline is steeper. From a $236.50 close in late July the stock has fallen roughly 38% and now trades well below its mid-August peak near $283. This represents a notable de-rating from previously elevated valuations even though year-over-year revenue growth stays above 100%.
Several elements came together in October. On October 22 the shares dropped 10.7% amid a wider selloff in AI chips and optical networking that also hit Astera Labs and Marvell Technology. The next day the stock fell another 9.5% after MaxLinear management indicated plans to enter the AEC market and noted that Credo currently holds 93% to 99% of the segment. Additional research highlighted slower near-term uptake of 1.6T AECs, which raised questions about the optical transition timeline.
Margin guidance added to the pressure. Credo projected fiscal Q2 GAAP gross margin of 62.9%–64.9%, below the 64.5% reported in fiscal Q1. Insider sales, including a Form 4 showing CEO Bill Brennan selling under a Rule 10b5-1 plan, contributed to the cautious sentiment. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
The larger quarterly drop began with the September 1 earnings release. Although the company beat estimates with revenue of $479 million (up 114.7% year over year) and non-GAAP EPS of $1.20, shares fell sharply the next day as investors focused on a back-half-loaded optical ramp, high customer concentration, and margin compression. The top four customers accounted for 33%, 28%, 13%, and 10% of quarterly revenue.
Several firms lowered price targets afterward, including Stifel to $310 from $350, BofA to $275 from $340, and JPMorgan to $310 from $335, though most kept Buy ratings. Broader AI de-risking and rotation out of high-valuation semiconductor names added further pressure through October.
The next important catalyst is the fiscal Q2 2027 earnings report expected around early December, where consensus calls for revenue near $531 million. Attention will center on the optical revenue ramp toward the $600 million-plus fiscal 2027 target, the timing of 1.6T AEC and optical DSP contributions, and the gross margin path.
Outside of earnings, competitive moves from MaxLinear, Broadcom, and Astera Labs, customer concentration risk, tariff developments, and the overall direction of hyperscaler AI spending will likely shape whether the stock stabilizes or continues lower. From what I see, these elements remain central to the investment case.
