Krispy Kreme’s third quarter 2026 numbers arrive at an important stage in the company’s multi-year turnaround. The focus has shifted to a more capital-light, franchise-driven approach, with underperforming locations being closed and the old McDonald’s USA partnership phased out. I’m watching closely to see if these steps lead to lasting margin gains and stronger free cash flow. The latest quarter showed a clear bottom-line beat, narrower losses, and expanding adjusted margins, which suggests the plan is starting to work even while revenue shrinks from deliberate store rationalization and softer international trends. This report gives a useful snapshot of whether the restructuring can translate into steady, profitable growth.
Adjusted EPS landed at $0.06 for the third quarter of fiscal 2026, comfortably ahead of the $0.01 consensus. Net revenue reached $328.76 million, above the roughly $317.6 million expected, although it dropped 12.4% from $375.3 million in the same period last year as the company moves toward more franchised operations. On a GAAP basis, the net loss improved to $13.3 million from $20.1 million, and the diluted loss per share narrowed to $0.08 from $0.11.
Adjusted EBITDA totaled $35.3 million, producing an adjusted EBITDA margin of 10.7%. Stripping out a $9.3 million cybersecurity insurance recovery from the prior year, the margin rose 240 basis points, helped by a 320-basis-point gain in the U.S. segment. Systemwide sales hit $490.2 million, up 1.0% on a constant-currency basis. Global points of access increased 7.0% to 15,889, while average revenue per door per week slipped 1.5% to $606. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
Heading into the report, sentiment was cautiously optimistic, with shares trading at depressed levels during the extended turnaround. The earnings and revenue beats, along with narrower losses and solid margin performance, pointed to a clearer path forward. Management’s choice to raise and tighten full-year revenue guidance added to that confidence. At the same time, the year-over-year revenue decline and ongoing softness in the U.K.-heavy international segment remind us that top-line growth is still limited while the store base is being optimized.
Looking ahead, the key question is whether DNUT can maintain U.S. margin momentum while stabilizing the international business. The company has outlined a longer-term target of roughly half of systemwide sales coming from franchisees starting in fiscal 2027, so the pace of additional refranchising will be worth tracking.
Capital discipline stays central as well. Capital expenditures fell 64.6% in the first three quarters of 2026, and free cash flow improved markedly year over year, helping efforts to lower leverage without issuing new shares. Continued progress here should support the balance sheet and investor confidence.
Finally, keep an eye on demand metrics such as average revenue per door, digital sales penetration, and growth in global points of access. While more locations and a better digital mix are positive, the 1.5% drop in average revenue per door and the 5.4% decline in international organic revenue show areas that still require attention. The interplay between restructuring, cost control, and revenue stabilization will likely shape the next phase of the turnaround.
