Skyworks Solutions' fourth-quarter report stands out because it marks the end of the company's standalone era. On October 5, 2026, the semiconductor firm completed its merger with Qorvo, forming a larger player in RF, power, and timing chips. The September-quarter numbers cover Skyworks on its own, while the guidance provides the first view of the combined business. In my view, the results matter primarily as an early checkpoint on integration progress, cost synergies, and how the new entity will handle softness in the Android smartphone market while capitalizing on opportunities in data center, defense, and automotive segments.
Skyworks delivered fourth-quarter revenue of $1.046 billion, above the midpoint of its $1.0–$1.035 billion guidance and roughly 1% ahead of the $1.04 billion consensus. This still marked a roughly 5% year-over-year decline, reflecting ongoing pressure in the Android market even as the largest customer, which accounted for about 62% of revenue, supported the seasonal smartphone ramp. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
Non-GAAP diluted EPS of $1.28 beat the midpoint of guidance by a penny and aligned closely with the $1.27 consensus. GAAP diluted EPS was $0.15 after restructuring and acquisition charges. Non-GAAP gross margin reached 44.4%, and non-GAAP operating income was $227 million for a 21.7% margin. Broad markets grew about 9% year over year, driven by data center, Wi-Fi, and automotive demand.
Management gave first-quarter fiscal 2027 guidance for the combined company of $1.8–$1.9 billion in revenue and roughly $1.25 in non-GAAP diluted EPS at the midpoint. Both came in below consensus estimates of about $1.99 billion in revenue and $1.57 in EPS, pointing to expected seasonal smartphone weakness, Android softness, and an extra week from Qorvo’s prior quarter.
Shares of SWKS dropped roughly 14.5% to about $72.86 right after the release. The reaction centered on the forward outlook, where combined December-quarter guidance missed expectations by a noticeable margin. Management indicated smartphone revenue would decline in the low-teens percent sequentially. Although the standalone quarter itself looked solid, investors focused on the softer near-term path and early integration risks from the Qorvo deal. Sentiment shows a mix of optimism about the merger’s scale and caution around Android trends and costs ahead.
Integration execution will be the main variable. Management targets $500 million or more in annual cost synergies within 24 to 36 months, with about two-thirds from operating expenses and one-third from cost of goods sold. Roughly $150 million in operating-expense savings is expected in fiscal 2027, with most of the earnings benefit in the second half.
Investors should track the new reporting segments—Smartphone and Diversified Growth Markets—starting with the February earnings call. Diversified Growth Markets, which includes data center, defense, automotive, and connected edge, made up more than 40% of combined sales and is projected to grow in the low double digits year over year. From what I see, input cost pressures are likely to continue, and the long-term goals of 50%–55% non-GAAP gross margin and 30%–35% non-GAAP operating margin will depend on full integration. Customer concentration and Android demand trends will remain important for the mobile side.
