Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk might consider selling 10% of his stock in the company, according to responses from a Twitter user poll.
On Saturday, Musk asked his Twitter followers via a poll whether they were in favor of him selling 10% of his Tesla stock. 57.9% of respondents agreed to his sale of the stock. Over 3.5 million Twitter responses came through by about noon Saturday.
"Much is made lately of unrealized gains being a means of tax avoidance, so I propose selling 10% of my Tesla stock," Musk wrote on Twitter. "I will abide by the results of this poll, whichever way it goes."
The value of 10% of Musk's shares is estimated to be about $25 billion, according to Investopedia. Musk owns over 20% of Tesla's outstanding stock, which is valued at about $250 billion, according to Investopedia.
