Trimble's quarterly results offer a direct read on demand across construction, agriculture, and transportation—industries closely tied to infrastructure spending, equipment cycles, and global freight activity. As the company continues its "Connect & Scale" strategy, shifting customers from one-time hardware sales toward recurring software subscriptions, investors pay especially close attention to ARR growth and margin expansion. This quarter was notable for resilient profit performance, with adjusted EBITDA margins reaching 28.8%, yet the report also surfaced softening in select end markets and a tempered recurring-revenue outlook. That mix made the release a key test of whether Trimble can sustain its transformation momentum amid a tepid European market and regional agricultural headwinds. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
Trimble posted third quarter 2026 revenue of $967 million, a 7% year-over-year increase that was essentially in line with consensus estimates of roughly $966.5 million. Non-GAAP diluted EPS was $0.86, matching analyst expectations and coming in above the midpoint of the company's guidance, up from $0.81 in the prior-year period.
ARR reached a record $2.564 billion, up 10% organically. Non-GAAP gross margin was 70.5%, down 70 basis points year over year due to a higher mix of hardware revenue, while adjusted EBITDA margin was 28.8%, toward the high end of guidance. Free cash flow for the first three quarters totaled approximately $644 million, and the company repurchased $224 million of stock in the quarter. GAAP results were weighed down by a $562 million goodwill impairment recorded in the Transportation segment.
Segment performance diverged. The AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Owners) segment delivered record ARR of $1.636 billion, up 13%. In contrast, Field Systems ARR grew only 5%, and Transportation and Logistics ARR rose 5%, reflecting softer positioning-services demand and a mixed European freight market.
Despite in-line quarterly results, Trimble shares traded lower following the announcement. The muted reaction reflected forward-looking concerns rather than disappointment in the reported quarter itself: fourth quarter revenue guidance of $1.05 billion at the midpoint came in slightly below consensus, and management reduced its full-year ARR growth forecast to roughly 10% from a prior 12%–14%. Sentiment was further pressured by the acknowledgement of headwinds in Field Systems—including weakness in South American agriculture and lower-than-expected conversion rates on bundled positioning services—along with the sizable goodwill impairment in Transportation.
Looking ahead, investors will be watching whether Trimble can stabilize its recurring-revenue trajectory while protecting the margin gains that have arrived ahead of schedule. Management maintained its full-year revenue guidance at a $3.925 billion midpoint, implying greater than 9% organic growth, and nudged its EPS midpoint higher to $3.66, or roughly 17% growth.
For the fourth quarter, the company guided to revenue of approximately $1.046 billion at the midpoint (up 8%), EPS of $1.16 (up 16%), ARR growth of about 10%, and EBITDA margins of 34%–35%.
Several factors deserve close monitoring in coming quarters. The company expects a roughly $90 million headwind to 2027 revenue and operating income because the 2027 fiscal calendar lacks a January 1, which affects term license renewals. At the same time, Trimble is implementing efficiency and cost-reduction measures while increasing investment in AI-native innovation, a balancing act that could influence near-term margins. Finally, the durability of AECO's 13% ARR growth and the pace of recovery in Field Systems and Transportation will be central to whether the cautious outlook proves temporary or signals a broader demand shift. From what I see, the AI Trend Prediction Engine helped frame some of these longer-term scenarios.
