BGC Group’s third-quarter report offers a clear signal on whether the financial brokerage and technology firm can maintain momentum across its core brokerage operations and the FMX futures and Treasury platform. After a softer second quarter, I was looking for signs that growth was picking up again. The results provided that confirmation, with revenue growth nearly doubling from the prior quarter and margins expanding. Because BGC operates in volatile, macro-sensitive markets that include rates, foreign exchange, energy, and equities, its quarterly numbers also give a useful snapshot of trading activity across global markets more broadly.
BGC Group posted record third-quarter revenue of $832.6 million, a 13% increase from $736.9 million in the same period last year. Adjusted EPS of $0.34 matched consensus, while GAAP diluted EPS from continuing operations was $0.14, up from $0.06 a year earlier. Total brokerage revenues grew 14.8% to $772.8 million, with strength across most asset classes: ECS revenue rose 18.8%, rates grew 12.4%, foreign exchange increased 13.9%, and equities surged 28%. Credit was the exception, declining 2.5%.
Adjusted earnings increased to $165.9 million, and pre-tax adjusted earnings reached $187.5 million, up 20.9%. Adjusted EBITDA climbed 48.9% to $249.5 million. The company also declared a quarterly dividend of 2 cents per share. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
Shares were relatively flat immediately following the release, trading around $11.27 as investors weighed a modest revenue beat against an in-line bottom line. The muted reaction reflects a broader tension: BGC’s underlying business clearly reaccelerated, with record revenue and expanding margins, but the headline EPS figure looked merely in line. Analysts noted that per-share earnings grew more slowly than pre-tax adjusted earnings, partly explaining the cautious tone. Heading into the quarter, investor sentiment had turned noticeably more pessimistic, so a quarter that showed broad-based growth and improving efficiency did not immediately spark a strong rally, even as the FMX platform demonstrated meaningful traction.
For the fourth quarter, management guided revenue to a range of $805 million to $865 million, which represents about 10% growth at the midpoint. Pre-tax adjusted earnings are expected to land between $178 million and $196 million, roughly 16% higher than the prior year. For the full year, that implies approximately 18% revenue growth and 23% earnings growth, with an adjusted earnings tax rate of 11% to 14%.
Investors should watch several factors in the quarters ahead. The FMX platform is a central focus after U.S. Treasury market share reached 42%, up from 37% a year ago, and cash Treasury average daily volume hit a third-quarter record. The full U.S. Treasury futures curve was listed in August, and futures volume reached an average of 112,000 contracts per day in September. Continued adoption here will be a key growth driver.
Other areas to monitor include the trajectory of energy, commodities, and shipping volumes, which benefited from strength in shipping, environmental, and biodiesel activity while refined products remained soft. Management also acknowledged that AI and electronification may compress broker compensation and pricing over time, even as the company completed its first fully AI-brokered institutional trade. Finally, leadership changes are worth noting, as co-CEO JP Aubin is set to step down at year-end to become Vice Chairman.
In my own analysis, I often rely on Tickeron’s AI Screener to quickly filter stocks and ETFs by technical patterns, fundamentals, and AI-driven signals. It helps surface ideas across thousands of names far more efficiently than manual screening, which is especially useful when evaluating names like BGC against peers in the financial sector. The tool’s customizable filters for industry, market cap, volatility, and performance metrics make it a practical addition to any research process.
