Facebook has chosen Singapore to build its first data center in Asia and will pour $1 billion towards the project.
The 11-stories tall facility will "support hundreds of jobs" in Singapore, according to the company. Facebook has cited Singapore’s business friendly environment and general quality of infrastructure/workforce as some of the factors behind the company’s choice. The data center is likely to open by 2022. Facebook already has data centers across the U.S. and Europe and is expected to plan more in Asia.
