Lifetime Brands operates in a challenging consumer-durables space, dealing with tariff shifts and softer spending on discretionary items. This quarter provides a clear look at how its efforts to manage tariffs, adjust pricing, and diversify supply chains are supporting margin recovery. The results also reflect the impact of launching a new East Coast distribution center, testing operational execution. From what I see, these numbers help show whether recent progress in adjusted profitability and balance-sheet strength can hold up over time.
For the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, consolidated net sales reached $177.7 million, a 3.4% rise from $171.9 million in the same period last year. U.S. segment sales increased 2% to $161.3 million, while international sales jumped 18.8% to $16.4 million, supported by higher prices and stronger retail demand in Australia and New Zealand. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
Adjusted net income came in at $8.4 million, or $0.37 per diluted share, compared with $2.5 million, or $0.11 per diluted share, a year earlier. This adjusted EPS surpassed the $0.21 consensus, and revenue exceeded the $174.3 million analyst estimate.
On a GAAP basis, the company recorded a net loss of $4.2 million, or $0.19 per diluted share, versus a $1.2 million loss, or $0.05 per diluted share, in the prior year. The results included a $3.3 million SKU rationalization charge, about $5.3 million in warehouse relocation and redesign costs, and a $2.5 million debt-extinguishment loss. Gross margin rose to 36.5% from 35.1%.
For the full year, management lifted the low end of net sales guidance to a range of $660 million to $700 million from the prior $650 million to $700 million. GAAP net income guidance was trimmed to $19 million to $20.5 million, with diluted EPS now expected at $0.84 to $0.91, due to one-time costs. Adjusted diluted EPS guidance was set at $2.04 to $2.11.
Investor response was mixed. While adjusted EPS beat expectations and gross margin improved, attention turned to higher distribution costs and the reduced GAAP earnings outlook. The Hagerstown distribution center ramp cost more and caused more disruption than anticipated, with management noting that $7 million to $10 million in shipments were lost during the quarter. Even so, the company increased its share repurchase authorization to up to $20 million and maintained its quarterly dividend of $0.0425 per share.
Management noted that the Hagerstown distribution ramp is largely complete and that October shipments were near record levels, which should help ease distribution expenses in the near term. I’m watching this closely to see if those gains translate into better margins during the key holiday quarter.
Tariff trends remain important. Lower tariff costs helped margins this quarter, but the broader market for consumer durables stays soft, with unit volumes still pressured even as pricing supports dollar sales. Progress in the international segment under Project Concord will also be worth monitoring, given its strong sales growth and path toward breakeven.
The company has set an Investor Day for December 1, 2026, to outline capital allocation and longer-term plans. Recent refinancing has lowered interest expense and extended debt maturities, adding flexibility. These forward items should be considered alongside the reported results.
