Nextdoor Holdings operates a neighborhood-focused social network that links verified residents with local businesses and community updates. Over the past several quarters the company has worked to narrow its path to profitability. The third quarter of 2026, which ended September 30, represents a clear milestone because the firm posted a GAAP breakeven result for the first time in its history. From my perspective, the report is worth examining closely because it shows whether accelerating user engagement can translate into sustainable revenue growth. After focusing on self-serve advertising and tighter cost controls, this quarter gives the best view yet of whether the profitability trajectory looks durable.
Nextdoor posted third quarter 2026 revenue of $78.77 million, an increase of 14% from $68.90 million in the prior-year period. The figure aligned with the consensus range of roughly $77 million to $79 million. EPS came in at $0.00, beating the consensus estimate of a $0.01 loss. The net loss narrowed to approximately $0.66 million from $12.86 million a year ago, while adjusted EBITDA reached $10.3 million, up from $4.4 million. That lifted the adjusted EBITDA margin by 7 percentage points to 13% and exceeded the company's own guidance range of $6.5 million to $8 million. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
Platform WAU climbed to a record 24.5 million, up 7% sequentially and 14% year over year, with weekly contributors rising 27%. Self-serve revenue, now about 69% of the total, grew 35%. ARPU growth, however, slowed to just 1% as reactivated users monetized at a lower rate. The company ended the quarter with $382 million in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities, and generated $28 million in operating cash flow through the first nine months of the year.
Shares of NXDR fell more than 13% after the release even though the company reached breakeven. The reaction centered on the fact that strong user growth has not yet produced faster revenue expansion. With ARPU growth at only 1% and management not ruling out flat ARPU in 2027, investors focused on the monetization gap. The solid adjusted EBITDA beat and narrowed net loss were overshadowed by guidance that kept the full-year adjusted EBITDA margin target near 10%, as management pointed to expense timing that shifts some costs into the fourth quarter.
Looking ahead, the key question remains whether NXDR can close the gap between user growth and monetization. For the fourth quarter the company guided revenue of $78 million to $80 million and adjusted EBITDA of $10 million to $11 million. Full-year revenue is expected in the range of $293 million to $295 million, implying roughly 14% growth. Management highlighted several initiatives aimed at improving monetization, including the rollout of Ask AI into search for all U.S. users, the relaunched Faves Awards, and a new Neighborhood Intelligence ad-targeting platform described as roughly 12 times more precise than zip-code targeting. Video sold through field sales and new dynamic and app-install ad formats were also noted as contributors. From what I see, investors will want to track whether ARPU stabilizes or reaccelerates, the pace of self-serve revenue, and how cost investments flow into the fourth quarter.
