Zscaler, Inc. operates a cloud-native cybersecurity platform centered on its Zero Trust Exchange, delivered entirely as software-as-a-service. Core products such as Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), and Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX) enable enterprises to protect users, applications, and data without traditional VPNs or on-premises hardware. The company holds a leading position in the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) space and competes directly with Palo Alto Networks (PANW), Cloudflare (NET), and CrowdStrike (CRWD). I track ZS closely because its subscription model aligns with the ongoing enterprise move toward zero-trust frameworks and, more recently, AI-driven security needs.
Over the past 30 days, Zscaler shares moved from a September 23 close of $214.45 to $255.15 on October 23, for a gain of roughly 19%. The path was uneven, with a dip toward the $193 area in late September followed by a strong October rally that included a 7.8% single-day jump on October 21. Looking further back, the stock climbed from around $147 in late July 2026 to the October 23 level, representing an approximate 73% advance over three months. That rebound reflected a meaningful re-rating after the shares finished June at their lowest sales multiple since fiscal 2018. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
The main catalyst arrived with Zscaler's October 6 Investor Day. Management highlighted the AI-security opportunity, reaffirmed first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue guidance of $935 million to $939 million, and sketched a long-term route to $10 billion in ARR. The presentation prompted a series of analyst price-target increases on October 7, with updates from Wells Fargo (to $260), Truist (to $250), Stephens (to $265), Scotiabank (to $255), JPMorgan (to $245), TD Cowen (to $230), Stifel (to $235), and Canaccord (to $250 from $210). Momentum extended on October 21 when D.A. Davidson began coverage with a Neutral rating and the shares rose 7.8%. The move also benefited from broader strength across cybersecurity names on commentary about rising AI token usage.
Support for the quarter came from Zscaler's fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 results, released September 3. Full-year revenue increased 25.4% to $3.35 billion, ARR reached approximately $3.8 billion (up 25%), and free cash flow totaled $779 million, or 23.2% of revenue. Notably, growth in newly added recurring revenue, excluding the Red Canary acquisition, accelerated from 7% in fiscal 2025 to 17% in the fiscal fourth quarter. This signaled re-acceleration in the core business even as management guided fiscal 2027 revenue growth to a more moderate 16.6% to 17.5% range. The combination of improving profitability trends and the new AI-security narrative supported the re-rating from the mid-year lows.
Attention now turns to Zscaler's fiscal first-quarter 2027 earnings report, expected in November 2026. Investors will focus on revenue relative to the $935 million to $939 million guidance, ARR growth compared with the roughly 17% pace implied by that outlook, and net-new ARR as a gauge of whether the AI-security theme is driving accelerating demand. Free-cash-flow margin progress toward the 23% to 23.5% target and any updates on Security-for-AI product adoption will also matter. Competitive pressures in the SASE market and the sensitivity of high-multiple software stocks to interest rates and macro conditions remain the main risks to watch.
