All three banks experienced positive year-over-year growth in net incomes. Citigroup earned $1.73 per share in Q3, versus Street estimates of $1.69.Net income rose to $8.38 billion, from $8.316 billion a year ago. Wells Fargo’s earnings per share of $1.16 was lower than the Street’s expected $1.17 per share.
Quebec-based Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec and Al Gore's Generation Investment Management have teamed up to buy New Zealand-based FNZ in one of the year's largest fintech deals. Canada's second largest pension fund has teamed with Generation, also co-founded by former Goldman Sachs Group partner David Blood, for future investments as well.The partnership expects to invest about $3 billion for investments that have an eight to 15-year duration. FNZ has some of the banking world's largest clients including Barclays, Vanguard Group and Aviva.

Wells Fargo & Co. is slashing 638 jobs in its mortgage department. The largest lender in the U.S. is responding to “market conditions and consumer needs”, as mentioned by its spokesman Tom Goyda.It is laying off employees in California, Florida, North Carolina and Colorado.
As Amazon.com, Inc.’s tryst with healthcare seems to strengthen, it has now reportedly welcomed one of the leading cardiologists in the U.S. into its team. Maulik Majmudar, associate director of the Healthcare Transformation Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital, posted on Twitter that he is moving to "an exciting and challenging role @amazon." Amazon’s ‘healthcare plans’ were already apparent after it acquired online pharma delivery platform PillPack in June, which followed earlier reports of the e-commerce giant’s collaboration with Berkshire Hathaway and JP Morgan & Chase on a project for lowering medical costs of companies and their employees.
In other news regarding the company, Citigroup is partnering with another major financial corporation 'Barclays' in blockchain technology, and the tech will be managed by IBM.Having 3 major corporations (IBM, Citigroup, and Barclays) work together on any project is something that will most likely be very successful. 
The internal documents of the bank reviewed by Yahoo Finance and interviews with former employees of wealth and investment management division show that the investment management control was transferred from human advisors to robo-advisors. In 2014 Wells Fargo’s investment “managers” started to be investment “strategists” and investment management was moved to service centres, according to a document analyzed by the website.Wells Fargo also made it clear that investment advisors in the unit keep quiet about the changes. “As a company, they emphasized sales to such a point that I felt just like the salesmen in ‘Glengarry Glen Ross,’” one employee tells Yahoo Finance, referencing to the David Mamet play and 1992 film about a salesman who was engaged in unethical and illegal acts under high-pressure to make more sales.
The buyback boom has seen by investors as a sign of confidence among business executives.  According to an analysis of regulatory filings by TrimTabs Investment Research, insiders sold $8.4 billion of their shares in May and $9.2 billion in June.Apple (AAPL) also announced plans last quarter for $100 billion in buybacks. However, according to an analysis from SEC Commissioner Robert Jackson Jr, insider selling increases immediately after buybacks are unveiled.
