Circle is the issuer of USDC, one of the world's most widely used stablecoins, and a key player in the blockchain and payments infrastructure space. Its quarterly results offer investors a direct read on stablecoin demand, reserve yields, and the growing adoption of tokenized financial products. The third quarter of 2026 arrived against a backdrop of shifting interest rates and intensifying competition among stablecoin issuers. With USDC carrying a dominant share of stablecoin transaction volume, this report serves as an important gauge of Circle's ability to convert network growth into durable profitability, especially as newer products like the ARC blockchain and its token presale begin contributing revenue.
Circle reported total revenue and reserve income of $865 million for the third quarter of 2026, an increase of 17% year over year and 23% sequentially. Reserve income totaled $658 million, down 8% year over year, as a 61-basis-point decline in the reserve return rate (to 3.54%) more than offset an 8% increase in average USDC in circulation, which averaged $73.3 billion during the period. Other revenue jumped 627% to $207 million, including $182 million recognized from the ARC token presale; excluding ARC, other revenue was $25 million, down 11% year over year.
Total distribution, transaction, and other costs fell 8% to $412 million, while operating expenses rose 16% to $245 million. Net income increased 5% to $226 million, and adjusted EBITDA climbed 85% to $317 million. Revenue less distribution costs (RLDC) margin reached 52.4%, up 13 percentage points year over year, though it was 39.7% excluding the ARC presale. Earnings per share of $0.84 handily exceeded consensus expectations near $0.39. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
Heading into the report, investor focus centered on whether USDC adoption could offset lower reserve yields, which are closely tied to interest rates. The headline beat on earnings per share and the strong contribution from the ARC token presale gave the market clear positive signals, while the modest year-over-year decline in reserve income highlighted ongoing sensitivity to the rate environment. Sentiment also reflected attention to stablecoin market share, which slipped 183 basis points to 27% at the end of the period, even as USDC retained a commanding share of transaction volume. Investors will likely weigh these competing dynamics against the stock's elevated valuation and the still-developing contributions from new payment and blockchain products.
Circle reiterated its full-year 2026 guidance, keeping its outlook unchanged. Management continues to target $310–$330 million in other revenue for fiscal 2026, a full-year RLDC margin of 41.7%–43.7%, and adjusted operating expenses of $570–$585 million. The company also maintained a multi-year "through cycle" target of 40% compound annual growth in USDC in circulation.
Looking ahead, investors should monitor how the renewed Binance agreement and the Hyperliquid distribution arrangement shape reserve margins in the fourth quarter and beyond. Management noted that the fourth quarter will include a full quarter of the renewed Binance agreement, which could pressure near-term margins even as it supports distribution scale. The pace of ARC token presale revenue recognition, continued growth in USDC held within Circle's platform, and any shifts in the Federal Reserve's interest-rate path will also be key variables for reserve income and profitability.
Finally, watch for progress on the ARC blockchain and related tokenized products, which management frames as long-term growth engines. These initiatives could meaningfully reshape Circle's revenue mix, but they also carry elevated execution and regulatory risk.
