Cisco (CSCO, $48.50) tops Q2 earnings expectations

Cisco Systems  posted second quarter earnings that beat analysts' expectations.

The networking software/hardware maker’s adjusted earnings came in at 79 cents a share, compared to analysts’ expectations of 76 cents. Revenue of $11.96 billion also surpassed the FactSet consensus of $11.92 billion. 

For the current quarter, the firm is projecting earnings of 80 cents to 82 cents a share, and revenue growth range of 3.5% and 5.5%

Cisco is raising its quarterly dividend by a penny a share to 37 cents, payable April 28 to holders of record April 6.
