This comparison looks at three companies chasing the same core opportunity: delivering the computing power and infrastructure that AI models require. CoreWeave, IREN Limited, and Nebius Group all operate in the expanding AI infrastructure space, though their approaches, financial positions, and market strategies set them apart. For investors following how financing pressures, revenue contracts, and execution risks play out in this theme, these names provide a clear view of current market pricing. One thing that stands out is how shifts in capital costs are influencing sentiment across the group.
CoreWeave, Inc. (CRWV) focuses on renting high-performance GPU capacity, mainly Nvidia accelerators, to major hyperscalers and AI developers. Microsoft remains its top customer, with capacity also ramping for OpenAI. The company listed in March 2025 and has posted strong revenue growth along with a backlog exceeding $100 billion. I checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to compare its positioning against sector peers. Recent trading has turned volatile, however, after corporate bond yields approached 15% and credit default swap spreads hit new highs, highlighting concerns over its debt-funded growth. Nvidia’s CEO has voiced support, and some institutional buying has occurred, yet analyst views remain divided on the leverage involved.
IREN Limited (IREN), previously known as Iris Energy, runs renewable-powered data centers and is shifting from Bitcoin mining into AI cloud services. It has secured a roughly $9.7 billion contract with Microsoft and a $3.4 billion agreement with Nvidia, which also invested $2 billion in equity. Bitcoin mining is expected to wind down by the end of December 2026. The shift has brought sizable non-cash impairments on retired hardware, and revenue has dipped as mining revenue fades before AI cloud scales fully. The stock has trailed over the past year and carries notable short interest. Sentiment has fluctuated with news of customer wins, such as a reported agreement involving Anthropic, set against questions about capital spending pace and new capacity conversion.
Nebius Group N.V. (NBIS), based in Amsterdam, is developing a full-stack AI-native cloud platform. Quarterly revenue has grown at triple-digit rates year over year, backed by contracts including a five-year Meta deal worth up to $27 billion and a large Microsoft agreement. Nvidia has also committed $2 billion. Nebius has outperformed the other two over the trailing year, more than doubling as annualized run-rate revenue rises and its power pipeline expands. It has still faced the sector-wide pullback tied to credit conditions, and its price-to-sales multiple sits well above peers, leaving less margin for any execution shortfalls despite solid cash reserves and prepayments.
The main differences lie in business models. CoreWeave operates as a focused GPU provider with a large backlog but the heaviest debt and greatest credit sensitivity. IREN represents a transition play, moving from declining mining operations to contracted AI capacity, which creates short-term revenue gaps yet leverages an existing power base. Nebius functions as a vertically integrated hyperscaler with the quickest revenue expansion and strongest recent momentum, though at a higher valuation. On performance trends, Nebius has led over the past year while the others have lagged. Risk profiles vary as well: CoreWeave faces concentrated credit and refinancing exposure, IREN contends with timing and decommissioning issues, and Nebius carries valuation and capital intensity considerations. Sector overlap also differs, with CoreWeave and Nebius more purely tied to AI infrastructure and IREN retaining some crypto sensitivity until mining fully exits.
Considering factors such as trend consistency, revenue visibility, balance-sheet strength, and relative positioning, Nebius Group stands out among the three in my view. Its accelerating revenue, diversified contracts, cash position, and superior longer-term performance suggest a more stable profile even after the recent dip. CoreWeave’s backlog is substantial yet offset by credit-market sensitivity, while IREN’s transition holds promise but remains dependent on execution. All three stay highly responsive to changes in financing conditions and AI demand.
