ESAB Corporation, the North Bethesda, Maryland-based welding, cutting, and joining equipment maker, reported results for the third quarter ended October 2, 2026. This period stands out as the first full quarter reflecting the Eddyfi acquisition financing along with contributions from the EWM and Eddyfi transactions, which broaden ESAB’s reach across the full asset lifecycle. I was particularly interested in whether organic demand would remain resilient amid inflation and a dynamic global environment, and whether the acquisitions would support margins or add near-term pressure. The results provide a useful snapshot of industrial activity across the Americas and EMEA & APAC, serving as a barometer for the broader sector.
ESAB posted record third-quarter net sales of $824.5 million, up 13.3% on a reported basis. Growth came from a 10.6% contribution from acquisitions, a favorable 0.8% currency translation impact, and 1.9% organic growth. On a core basis, which excludes the Russia business, sales rose 14.5% to $786.8 million, including 2.3% core organic growth. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
Net income from continuing operations attributable to ESAB was $41 million, or $0.61 per diluted share, unchanged from the prior-year quarter. Core adjusted net income was $83 million, or $1.30 per diluted share, versus $1.32 a year ago. Core adjusted EBITDA rose 17.0% to $156 million, and the core adjusted EBITDA margin expanded 40 basis points to 19.8%.
By segment, the Americas generated net sales of $337.3 million, up 15.2%, while EMEA & APAC delivered $487.2 million, up 12.0%. Management highlighted strength in North American equipment and automation. Revenue exceeded consensus expectations of about $786.7 million, while adjusted EPS of $1.32 landed slightly below the roughly $1.33 estimate.
Investor attention after the release focused on the contrast between record sales and a softer profit outlook. While the top-line beat and stronger-than-expected core adjusted EBITDA supported the growth narrative, the reduction in full-year core adjusted EPS guidance, from $5.40–$5.50 down to $5.28–$5.33, pointed to rising acquisition-related amortization, restructuring costs, and financing expenses weighing on reported profitability. GAAP operating income fell to $91.9 million from $106.6 million a year earlier, reflecting higher restructuring charges and a sharp increase in acquisition-related amortization and integration costs. The gap between GAAP and core adjusted results, driven by roughly $39.9 million of acquisition-related amortization and other charges plus $11.3 million of restructuring costs, stood out as a key consideration.
ESAB updated its full-year 2026 outlook, projecting total core sales growth of 13.1% to 13.3%, with core organic sales growth of 1.6% to 2.0%, down from a prior range of 2.0% to 4.0%. The contribution from M&A increased to roughly 9.5%, and the anticipated foreign exchange impact rose to about 2.0%.
The company lowered its core adjusted EBITDA forecast to a range of $603 million to $607 million, from $615 million to $625 million, and trimmed core adjusted EPS guidance to $5.28–$5.33. Management expects the fourth quarter to show improvement, with better organic growth, margins, and cash flow heading into 2027.
From what I see, investors should monitor whether organic growth in North American equipment and automation continues, how quickly cross-selling opportunities from Eddyfi convert into revenue, and whether margin expansion holds as acquisition-related costs flow through. The softer organic growth guidance and lower EBITDA outlook raise questions about underlying demand trends and the pace of margin improvement, even as higher M&A and currency contributions support the overall sales line.
