Tesla shares rose further Tuesday, following the news that founder and CEO Elon Musk now owns more than a fifth of the company.
According to a SEC filing, Musk held a passive 21.2% stake in the electric carmaker, as of December 31. This represents around 231,715 shares and is a 2% increase from a 2020 filing.
Musk also donated just over 5 million shares to a charity between November 19 and November 29 last year. This was around the same time he was unloading around $16.4 billion in shares of the company as part of a plan to convert earlier share options and fulfil U.S. tax liabilities.
He has also exercised options to buy around 18 million shares.
