Zscaler is a cloud-native cybersecurity company that delivers its Zero Trust Exchange platform as a subscription-based software service. Headquartered in San Jose, California, the company secures users, workloads, devices, and, increasingly, AI agents by routing traffic through a globally distributed cloud rather than relying on legacy on-premises hardware. Its flagship products include Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), with a growing portfolio aimed at securing data and applications across distributed environments.
Zscaler's business model is built on annual recurring revenue (ARR), which reached approximately $3.77 billion in fiscal 2026. The company generated roughly $3.35 billion in revenue that year, growing about 25% year over year. Investors follow the stock closely because of its exposure to secular themes such as zero trust adoption, remote and hybrid work, cloud migration, and the fast-emerging category of security for AI and agentic AI systems. I also checked this using Tickeron’s AI Screener to see how the stock compares to others in the industry.
Over the last 30 days, ZS advanced from a closing price of about $201.80 on October 5 to roughly $225.09 by early November, a gain of approximately 11.5%. The move was not linear: the stock surged through late October, touching intraday levels above $260, before pulling back and consolidating near the $225 level.
The quarterly trend is even more pronounced. From roughly $163 in early August, ZS has climbed about 38% to current levels. This multi-month advance marks a sharp reversal from the first half of the year, when the stock traded well below its 52-week high and suffered significant single-session declines following a cautious fiscal third-quarter outlook.
The dominant catalyst was Zscaler's Investor Day on October 6, its first since 2021. Chief Executive Jay Chaudhry described agentic AI as the largest opportunity in the company's history and laid out a long-term target of at least $8 billion in ARR by fiscal 2031, with an upside case of $10 billion. Management also reaffirmed fiscal 2027 guidance, projecting revenue of $3.908 billion to $3.938 billion and non-GAAP earnings of $4.86 to $4.90 per share.
The presentation triggered a broad round of analyst upgrades to price targets, including increases from Needham, Baird, Cantor Fitzgerald, Wells Fargo, Jefferies, and others. Separately, Zscaler announced a collaboration with IBM and Red Hat aimed at integrating security capabilities across hybrid cloud environments. In mid-October, DA Davidson initiated coverage with a Neutral rating and a $215 price target, a move that coincided with a single-session gain of more than 7%.
The quarterly rebound began with Zscaler's fiscal fourth-quarter results reported in early September. Revenue rose 25% year over year to $898.2 million, non-GAAP earnings of $1.19 per share beat estimates, and ARR grew 25% to $3.77 billion. Guidance for both the first quarter and full fiscal 2027 came in above consensus, signaling confidence despite prior sales-leadership turnover and go-to-market disruption concerns.
Beneath the headline numbers, net new ARR growth excluding the Red Canary acquisition accelerated, a metric investors interpreted as evidence that a reorganized sales force was regaining momentum. The October Investor Day then reframed the narrative around AI security, converting a recovery story into a longer-term growth thesis. This combination of improving fundamentals and a clearer strategic roadmap has been the primary driver of the stock's three-month advance.
Looking ahead, the key event is Zscaler's fiscal 2027 first-quarter earnings report, where investors will focus on net new ARR, billings, free cash flow, and whether growth tracks toward the company's full-year guidance. Commentary on the ramp of AI-security products and the long-term ARR target will be closely scrutinized, given how central that narrative has become to the valuation.
Macroeconomic conditions, cybersecurity spending trends, and competitive pressure from other cloud-security vendors also remain relevant. Elevated capital spending tied to AI infrastructure could pressure near-term free cash flow margins. As always, the gap between reported growth and the market's expectations will likely determine the stock's next directional move.
