The Tradr 2X Long XNDU Daily ETF (XNDX) tracks two times (200%) the daily performance of Xanadu Quantum Technologies (XNDU), a Canadian photonic quantum computing company and the first pure-play photonic quantum firm to list publicly. In today's session, XNDX fell 18.71% to roughly $1.39, down about $0.32 from its prior closing price of $1.71. The decline was a reversal of the prior session's rally, which had been driven by Xanadu's multi-year manufacturing partnership with GlobalFoundries.
The primary driver of today's decline was profit-taking. On October 6, Xanadu shares jumped roughly 17% after the company announced a strategic, multi-year partnership with GlobalFoundries (GFS) to industrialize its photonic quantum components on a 300 mm production line. With no dollar terms disclosed and no immediate revenue attached to the agreement, traders who bought the initial news moved to lock in gains the following session, pulling Xanadu and, in turn, its leveraged ETF sharply lower.
Because XNDX is engineered to deliver 200% of the daily move in Xanadu shares, a roughly 9.5% decline in the underlying stock translated into an 18.71% loss for the fund. This leverage works in both directions, which is why the fund rallied more than 20% the prior session and is now giving back a disproportionate share of those gains. The daily reset mechanism also means losses compound more aggressively in choppy, high-volatility trading.
Broader investor caution around the quantum computing sector contributed to the move. Xanadu remains in the pre-revenue commercialization phase, posting a modest revenue figure against a $42.1 million quarterly net loss, and it has used an equity facility to raise capital, diluting existing holders. The stock has been under pressure since a late-September lockup expiration, and a disclosed automatic disposition plan by a senior executive added to the overhang. These factors left the stock vulnerable to a pullback even after a constructive manufacturing announcement.
XNDX is not a diversified portfolio. It is a single-stock leveraged ETF that gains exposure primarily through swaps and derivatives tied to Xanadu Quantum Technologies' common shares, with the remainder held in cash and cash-equivalent collateral. As a result, essentially the entire move in the fund today was driven by the decline in XNDU. There was no offsetting contribution from other holdings, which is precisely why the fund's losses tracked roughly double the underlying stock's drop.
The move was fundamentally idiosyncratic to Xanadu rather than a reflection of broad-market direction. The prior session saw a sharp spike in trading activity in XNDX, with volume well above its typical range as traders positioned around the GlobalFoundries news. As a recently launched, thinly traded fund with a relatively small asset base, XNDX is prone to outsized intraday swings and wider bid-ask spreads, which can exaggerate price moves in both directions. Today's reversal brought the fund back near the lower end of its recent trading range, underscoring the elevated volatility typical of single-stock leveraged products.
Investors will be watching whether Xanadu can follow through on its manufacturing roadmap, including its planned fault-tolerant demonstrators and the industrialization of its photonic components with GlobalFoundries. Other catalysts include progress on error correction, additional partnerships, and government funding, as well as the company's path toward its 2029–2030 commercialization targets. Key risks include continued cash burn, potential further share sales, and the inherent decay and compounding risks of a daily-reset leveraged fund. Because XNDX resets daily, its performance over holding periods longer than a single day can diverge significantly from two times the underlying stock's return, especially in volatile markets.
