This holiday season, Amazon gifts shoppers free shipping on all orders .
The Christmas offer, starting Monday, waives the minimum purchase limit of $25 that otherwise applies to non-Prime users. The last date till the offer lasts would be announced later. The e-commerce giant’s Prime members get free delivery at other times as well, on eligible orders without a minimum purchase requirement.
Amazon’s holiday incentive to shoppers comes at a time when its competitors like Target are also strategizing to milk the season’s consumer demand potential. Target, for example, is offering free two-day shipping on all orders from November 1 to December 22. Walmart is trying to facilitate faster shopping experience during the holiday season by introducing mobile checkout scanners at stores for large/heavy items so customers can pay on spot (i.e., without having to queue up at registers). Walmart's online store will have a "deals hub" section that will offer new promotions - including recommendations from celebrity Ellen DeGeneres.
Amazon's holiday bonanza will make hundreds of millions of items eligible for free shipping, according to the company.
