JPMorgan (JPM, $98.08) beats Q2 earnings expectations

JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s second quarter earnings came in higher than expected by analysts. However, the financial behemoth announced that it would suspend its share buyback program through to at least the end of September.

JPMorgan’s net income for the three months ending in June was  $4.7 billion, or $1.38 per share, beating the Street estimate of $1.04 per share.  However, the figure is -51% lower from the year-ago quarter.

 Revenue in the quarter increased +11.5% year-over-year to $33 billion, exceeding  analysts' estimates of $30.3 billion.

Amid COVID-19 pandemic, JP Morgan’s loan loss provisions for the second quarter was $10.5 billion, which is +$9.3 billion higher from last year.

The bank said it  will continue to pay its quarterly dividend of 90 cents per share.
