Amazon's (AMZN, $3,191.35) Jeff Bezos sold $3.1 billion in Amazon shares this week

Amazon  CEO Jeff Bezos sold more than $3.1 billion in Amazon shares this week. This is a part of a 10b5-1 trading plan which allows major shareholders to sell a predetermined number of shares without accusations of insider trading.

This week’s sale follows the $4.1 billion in Amazon shares Bezos sold earlier this year. So, the total shares he sold in 2020 is slightly more than $7.2 billion in the first eight months of the year.

Previously, Bezos revealed that he plans to sell $1 billion worth of Amazon stock a year to fund his space firm, Blue Origin. 

Bezos is now worth $190 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His fortune increased by nearly $75 billion this year.
