Morgan Stanley analyst Keith Weiss’ top pick for next year is  Microsoft .He also boosted his price target on the stock to $260 from $249.

“With tough near-term comparisons already in consensus estimates, and the multiple having pulled back to 26 times [estimated] 2022 calendar year EPS, we see potential for outperformance in fiscal year 2021 [ending June 30],” Weiss wrote in a commentary.  He thinks that the durability of growth and margin expansion are underappreciated.

According to Weiss, a combination of market factors like sector rotation out of software, as well as Microsoft-specific factors have been weighing on the stock.

I hope the outcome is different this time around, but the demand for financial technology that helps people trade online is growing.

"We are pleased with our third-quarter performance as we continue to grow our business and achieve major physical and digital milestones through our RxEvolution strategy," said Rite Aid CEO Heyward Donigan. Donigan also mentioned the launch of the company’s new brand and logo, and said that the company has made “substantial progress” in evolving its merchandise mix to support whole health.

Initial jobless claims for the US state unemployment benefits unexpectedly climbed to the highest level in three months, amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.

In the week ended Dec. 12, seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims rose by +23,000 to 885,000, according to Labor Department data.The figure is well above the 818,000 expected by economists surveyed by Bloomberg.

However, continuing claims for state programs fell by -273,000 to 5.51 million in the week ended Dec. 5, compared to 5.7 million forecast by Bloomberg survey.

The increase in initial claims includes increasing filings in California and Illinois, states that are experiencing  particularly restrictive lockdowns.

On Wednesday, Roku and WarnerMedia announced a deal to include HBO Max to the Roku platform.Roku users can subscribe directly on their Roku device to access all of HBO Max content (and HBO Max app), at  a cost of $15 a month.

Spotify  announced that it has signed a multiyear deal with Prince Harry and his wife Meghan to produce and hosts podcasts.

Their first podcast, a holiday special, is due for release during the Christmas.

Tuesday saw a bullish signal generated on the X-Trackers Harvest CSI 300 China A-Shares ETF (ASHR).The underlying index includes small-cap, mid-cap, and large-cap stocks.

Canadian cannabis company Tilray Inc. announced plans to merger  with Aphria Inc. .The deal would create the world's largest cannabis company by revenue.

CNBC’s Sara Eisen tweeted that a deal announcement could come as early as Wednesday, following a Bloomberg Canada report.

 The merged entity would have Tilray as its name, Aphria shareholders would own a larger stake and a majority of the board seats.  The all-stock deal will create a company with an equity value of about C$4.8 billion ($3.8 billion).  The combined companies’ 12-month annual sales of C$874 million is higher than that of industry leaders such as Curaleaf Holdings Inc. and Canopy Growth Corp.

 The merged operation could likely move  its headquarters to the U.S. ,according to the report.

Discount retailer Costco (COST) rallied nicely since hitting a low of $262.68 in late February.The stock hit a recent high of $388.07 and has been consolidating over the last few weeks.
A $103 price target represented a 26% downside from the stock's closing price on Friday of $139.25. "An overwhelming majority of investors we’ve spoken with have been unable to justify Airbnb’s valuation premium relative to OTAs and expressed interest in realizing their quick gains," said analyst Robert Mollins." Disney shares got a rating downgrade from analysts at BMO Capital to market perform from outperform. However, BMO hiked their price target from $165 to $185. BMO’s price target is $120 per share, up from $100 per share, Disney's DTC business, including Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu. The firm continues to price Disney's core business at $65. BMO expects Disney+ to have between 230 million and 260 million subscribers by 2024, an improved outlook from its previous projection of between 60 million and 90 million subs.  The firm expects average revenue of $7.05 per user on Disney's 275.8 million projected subscribers by the end of 2025.
