Walmart (WMT, $136.42) to hire 20,000 to meet holiday season demand

Walmart  plans to hire 20,000 workers in the face of  an expected increase in online demand this holiday season.

The retail behemoth said that job applicants are expected to start immediately. The hired workers will pack and ship online orders at Walmart’s e-commerce fulfillment centers . Pay will range from $15.75 to $23.75 an hour.

Walmart has hired over 500,000 workers since March.

The company said it will offer more shopping online, to  prevent overcrowding at its stores amid COVID-19 pandemic.
